Simone Devereux

With over 20 years’ recruitment experience, gained largely in the IT recruitment marketplace,
I’ve worked my way up through the ranks from entry level Resourcer to Recruitment Consultant to
Senior Consultant – cutting my teeth within a big corporate agency placing IT contractors.

Five years later, I left the corporate world and moved to the opposite end of the scale – a career
with a smaller ‘boutique’ recruitment agency, allowing me more freedom to work to my strengths.
Here I became involved in permanent recruitment and more diverse sectors, ultimately broadening my
commercial and recruitment skills.

Having established Solo Search in 2004, one of my passions is to do my part in raising recruitment
industry standards in the UK. I fully uphold the code of professional practice and high standards
required in today’s recruitment environment.  I believe in ‘giving something’ back even if you can’t
directly help a candidate or client and not giving up when the going gets tough.  Recruitment can be a
tough old game at times but I am proud to still be riding that wave.

In my free time I am a keen tennis player and enjoy living a healthy and active lifestyle which usually
means my daily office attire is a hoodie brighter than this website.  I do love a good retail therapy
fix and am usually the last one to leave a dance floor.  I am a bit of a workaholic, not afraid of hard
graft and am a ‘completer finisher’ which does include anything on my plate. Pet hates are candidates
not showing up for an interview (and not letting anyone know) and client words - “I’ve already got that CV”.

When joining Simone at Solo Search at the start of 2014 the world of recruitment was a new challenge for me,
after leaving full time education I decided university life wasn’t for me and wanted to enter the world of work
joining a successful financial services business.

During my time in financial services I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to assist in the set up and
management of a bespoke portfolio management business which is still going strong today. Learning greatly
from my exposure to numerous industries and dealing with colleagues, clients and stakeholders I am
passionate about making any business transaction as friendly, transparent and as simple as possible.

I feel it is key that everybody enjoys their work, after all it is where you spend a lot of your time! At Solo
Search we don’t try shoehorn any candidate into a role, I love the part of my job where I find a candidate
who really wants a role and I get to make that happen with a great company.

Outside of the office I’m a little bit of a nerd, I love to learn, royal history being one of my favourite topics. I
also love to travel and see different parts of the world…I do prefer warmer climates, but I have been known to
do some cooler exploring!

I joined the team at Solo Search this year as their Administration Manager, I look after the office part of the business and deal with all the paperwork so everyone can concentrate on finding candidates new jobs.

I have worked in Admin for over 10 years for a range of different businesses, I enjoy learning new ways of working as well as utilising past experiences.

The team here at Solo Search are fantastic to work with and are truly passionate about matching the candidates with the right jobs.

When I am not working I like to be fairly active and enjoy going out for meals with friends and family.

After a chance meeting I came on board with the Solo Search team at the end of 2018. I had worked in the recruitment industry for a couple of years, so already knew the ropes, however I have felt joining the team here has been a refreshing change. The guys at Solo Search have a different approach to recruiting with a huge emphasis on quality candidates for their clients and very quickly after starting I knew this was the right place for me!

Studying Business and Accounts after leaving full time education, as many do, I fell into recruitment accidentally but enjoyed it from day one and knew it was a career I could excel in.

Outside of work I am into my fitness and frequent the gym a good few times a week, I would like to tell you I enjoy it but I am quite simply am a massive foodie and need to counteract  this hobby!

My free time and weekends are spent with friends and family and taking my favourite member of the family, Charlie (my black lab!), out for walks in the local countryside.
