Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire - based in the clients offices on the outskirts of Leeds (LS25)

Salary: £30 - £45k          

This is an exciting opportunity to join the UK’s fastest growing supplier of software for Local Authority social care and education management services. They have grown rapidly in the last 10 years to the point where the company is the market leader in the provision of specialist software for local authority social services departments as well as expanding into the Education market.

Our client is looking for a talented and experienced Test Analyst to join one of their very successful and growing teams. The post offers good career opportunities with a company that has a demonstrable track record of promoting from within.

Their applications are web-based workflow solutions that include mobile apps and customer portals. They provide modern and intuitive user interfaces to support critical processes for both social care professionals and the public. The successful candidate will play a vital role in testing solutions in a service area that is comparatively advanced in its use of technology.

Experience/Attributes:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as Test Analyst, Software Tester, Manual Tester or similar
  • Experience and understanding of ISTQB or ISEB, with certification desirable
  • 2 years’ experience working in Professional Services industry
  • Understanding of structured test methods and processes, including performing both manual and automated testing
  • Experience of working in an ITIL and ISO 27001 environment
  • Good general knowledge of IT systems desirable, including SharePoint, SQL, MS Visual Studio and industry standard testing tools
  • Experience of working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and take responsibility for tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal
  • Capable of setting and following standards
  • Ability to promote a quality control culture
  • Ability to lead business and IT workshops
  • Good attention to detail is essential
  • Understanding of development methodologies including Agile user stories
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Skills Required:

As Test Analyst / Software Tester / Manual Tester the following skills are essential:

  • Experience of testing commercial applications within a busy team atmosphere
  • Good understanding of software testing techniques and test processes
  • Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills both orally and in writing
  • Experience of diagnosing, reporting, tracking and resolving quality issue
  • Ability to organise, co-ordinate and prioritise day to day work load
  • Ability to understand software specification/requirements and to interpret acceptance criteria and derive tests accordingly
  • Experience of test management systems such as HP Application Lifecycle Management or Quality Centre would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of Social Care or Education systems would be beneficial
  • ISEB Foundation in Software Testing desirable but not essential
  • Experience of testing in an Agile development environment is highly desirable

The Role:

As Test Analyst / Software Tester / Manual Tester you will report into the Product Manager and the role will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Execution of test scripts, recording outcome of tests, escalation of defects and identified opportunities for product improvement
  • Hands on testing of all functional modules of the Social Care or Education System
  • Liaising with other software testers and implementation staff to facilitate the testing of in-house software.
  • Working closely with members of the development team in order to provide test feedback
  • Involvement with the creation and maintenance of suitable test environments within the client offices for all software testing to take place. This includes the set-up of the software being tested and test data
  • Creation and maintenance of test scripts and other documentation in keeping with existing and new practices within the QA team
  • Assist the clients Help Desk team in investigating and resolving problems
