Suitable for: Finance Director with approx. 5 years’ experience working at strategic level, partcularly pre and post acquisition stages

Location: Wetherby, West Yorkshire (flexible working)

Salary: FTE £80k to £120k package

Our client’s core business is a leading FCSA accredited payroll services and accounting company, backed by Family Office Private Equity. The business has grown considerably since it’s acquisition in 2018 and, as such, they now have a requirement for a highly motivated driven Finance Director ideally with M & A experience

Experience/Skills/Attributes Required:

  • Min 5 years’ experience as Finance Director or similar
  • Min 5 years ACA, ACCA, CA, CIMA or ICAEW qualified
  • M&A including due diligence and integration post M&A process
  • Proven track record in Payroll or Recruitment / Human Capital sectors
  • Thorough understanding of tax matters
  • Proven annual accounts audit process and delivery /liaison with accountancy audit partners
  • Competent team manager with excellent communication skills
  • A can-do attitude to problem-solving
  • A credible professional who inspires confidence


  • Corporate Finance acquisition exposure (financial modelling, valuations, due diligence, etc) 
  • Knowledge of labour legislation and tax regulations including IR35
  • Corporate structuring and overseas jurisdiction
  • Legal knowledge
  • Payroll / recruitment sector experience highly desirable

The Role:

The Finance Director will report to the Payroll Group MD, whilst also accountable to a wider Board of Directors. Working closely with the MD, will have overall responsibility for all financial aspects of the Payroll Group. The Finance Director role will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Responsibility for the Finance team, ensuring the financial processes, systems and controls are operating effectively and compliantly.
  • Budgeting & financial reporting 
  • Cashflow management & forecasting
  • Handling VAT, PAYE and all Tax duties
  • Pre and post sales financial modelling
  • Securing appropriate finance for acquisitions
  • M&A – financial modelling, valuations, due diligence
  • Hands-on Project management of best practice process change and automation
