Location:             Harrogate HG3 (you will need your own transport due to this being a rural location)

Salary:                 £30,000 - £38,000 p.a. + £3k on-call

Our client is a Cyber Security Consultancy and Management Services provider. They are looking for an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to join their expanding team.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for an opportunity for a variety of experiences in a fast-growing dedicated security company, as well as access to training including labs, materials and certifications. In addition, the Cyber Security Engineer will get the opportunity to learn from industry experts whilst joining an experienced security team, and offer opportunities for progression into specialist roles as Cyber Security subject matter experts


The Cyber Security Engineer should have/be:

  • Ambitious, inquisitive and looking to deep dive into cyber security
  • Cisco CCNA or other networking qualification 
  • Firewall experience and/or certifications including vendors such as Fortinet, Palo Alto, Check Point, Cisco
  • Helpdesk/support experience essential
  • Understanding of data networks
  • Excellent communication skills including listening, speaking, reading, writing and experience using office applications

The Role:

The Cyber Security Engineer will work within the Security Operations Centre as part of a team of security experts directly liaising with customers in a support capacity and will get involved in:

  • Investigating technical issues with networks, firewalls, web and email security solutions
  • Generating reports for both technical and non-technical customer stakeholders
  • Assisting with internal and external audits relating to information security
  • Assisting with the creation, maintenance and delivery of cyber security awareness training and vulnerability management programs for customers
  • Using a SIEM to monitor for attacks, intrusions and unusual, unauthorised or illegal activity
  • Testing and evaluate security products
  • Investigating security alerts and provide incident response
  • Monitoring identity and access management, including monitoring for abuse of permissions by authorised system user
