Our client, the UK’s fastest growing supplier of software for local authority social care and education management software services, has an opening for an experienced Account Manager to join their growing team. Working at a senior relationship level you will be managing existing client relationships and building new relationships with prospective clients.


  • Minimum of 3 years; experience as an Account Manager or Account Executive or similar
  • Previous experience of selling software solutions or software products or previous experience of selling an IT solution into social care / local authorities or public sector
  • Must be able to present to senior stakeholders
  • Must have previous experience of completion of bids/proposals/tenders ideally within public sector
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Have the ability to manage a complex caseload, ensuring that deadlines are met whilst balancing the workload across team member
  • Be persuasive and credible in a sales context
  • Must exercise good commercial judgment to protect the company’s interests, in written formats (e.g. bids) and in dialogue with customers
  • Excels at establishing and building meaningful relationships – external
  • Success in establishing and building appropriate relationships – internal
  • Self-motivated/good organisational skills
  • Strong ICT skills
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Able to work to tight deadlines in a pressurised environment
  • Ability to recognise, analyse, and solve issues
  • Full UK Driving Licence required

The Role:

The role of Account Manager will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • As Account Manager you will have responsibility for company order intake in a defined geographical territory.
  • Preparing and delivering sales presentations.
  • preparing proposals and tender submissions.
  • Defining, negotiating, and agreeing on commercial terms for orders, and actively participating in the negotiation of new contracts with the support of the legal team.
  • Working to agreed sales targets.
  • Account managing several existing ‘live’ customer sites and developing these to their full potential.
  • Pursuing new sales opportunities in Councils/organisations that are not currently customers.
  • Working with partner companies to forge business relationships where appropriate.
  • Resolving and/or escalating customer issues in a timely fashion.
  • Having an understanding of Company systems – JIRA/Wiki – and using these tools where appropriate
  • Plan/carryout/support local marketing activities to agreed budgets and timescales and integrate personal sales efforts with other organized marketing activities.
  • Will be required to travel and stay overnight, to carry out the role effectively
